Attendance
We are extremely proud of the high attendance that we achieve, and we work hard to support every child to come to school regularly. Our policy for attendance is underpinned by the statutory guidance “Working Together to Improve School Attendance” and can be viewed by clicking here.
Leave of Absence requests can be made to school (in advance) using the form available from school. The school can only authorise absences due to prescribed reasons such as family emergencies or where there is an 'exceptional circumstance'. We highly recommend booking a meeting with the Executive Headteacher prior to making the request for absence so that we can do our best to support applications that are made for time out of school - although holidays will not be authorised as the government guidance states that absence for the purpose of holidays or leisure are not generally considered to be exceptional.
At our school, the children are met at the gate at 8.45am and the register is taken at 9.00am. Pupils arriving after 9am are marked late (after the register closes). Lateness is considered to be an unauthorised absence. The school day ends at 3.20pm.
You can also see the Health Protection Agency guidance on illnesses by clicking here which will show you how long pupils need to stay off school depending on the ailment.
